8/17/14

It almost seems like forever since the last Five Round Review was posted, but I'm back!

The first event on this past weekends fight cards to discuss is Cage Warriors 70 which took place in Dublin Ireland. The main event saw a battle in the Lightweight division. Irishman Joseph Duffy came out the victor after defeating Damien Lapilus by rear naked choke at 2:18 of round 3.

UFC Fight Night 47 saw a number of exciting fights. Middleweight Tim Boetsch finished off Brad Tavares in a familiar fashion to one of his past fights by finishing him with a right hook against the cage. The TKO came at 3:18 of round 2. Lightweight Ross Pearson rebounded from a controversial split decision loss by earning a KO win over veteran Gray Maynard at 1:35 of round 2. In the main event Light Heavyweight Ryan Bader out wrestled Ovince Saint Preux for five rounds on his way to a unanimous decision win.

A Middleweight title fight between Jack Hermansson and Deyan Topalski will headline Cage Warriors 71.

UFC Light Heavyweight kingpin Jon Jones has been forced out of his title fight with Daniel Cormier after suffering an injury. Jones will now defend his title at UFC 182 on January 3.

MFC Bantamweight champion Anthony Birchak has signed with the UFC and will face off against Joe Soto at UFC 177.

Middleweights Doug Marshall and Melvin Manhoef will headline Bellator 125. Alexander Shlemenko will defend his Middleweight belt against Brandon Halsey at Bellator 126. That fight will also serve as a headliner.

Bellator has announced that they will be bringing back Women's MMA with the signings of Marloes Coenan and Julia Budd.

Former Bellator fight War Machine has finally been caught and arrested in Simi Valley California. He was arrested due to his connection with the brutal assault of his girlfriend.
